I’m excited to share a new chapter in my WordPress journey — I’m part of the organizing team for WordPress Campus Connect 2026 at Adani University, Ahmedabad. 💙
The event is happening on Saturday, 19 September 2026, and is being organized in collaboration with the WordPress Community and Adani University to introduce students to WordPress and open source.

What is WordPress Campus Connect?
WordPress Campus Connect is a one-day educational initiative designed to bring the WordPress community closer to students.
The Adani University edition is focused on helping students learn by building alongside the community, with hands-on workshops and guidance from experienced WordPress professionals.
What makes this particularly exciting for me is that the program is designed for complete beginners. Students don’t need prior technical knowledge to participate.
The goal isn’t simply to teach students how to use WordPress. It’s also about introducing them to the wider ecosystem around it — including open source, web development, career opportunities, community, and collaboration.
What Students Can Expect
The event is designed around practical learning and real-world exposure.
Students will have the opportunity to explore:
🧩 Building with WordPress
Participants will get hands-on experience creating websites, managing content, and understanding the fundamentals of working with WordPress.
💻 Real-World Experiences
The program will provide insights from WordPress professionals along with an introduction to career opportunities across web development, design, and community roles.
🌍 Open Source Collaboration
Students will also get an introduction to the values behind open source and how people around the world collaborate to build and improve software.
🤝 Connect With the Community
Campus Connect is also an opportunity to meet experienced developers, industry professionals, and other students who are interested in technology and the web.

Why I’m Excited to Be Part of It
As a developer, I’ve spent years working with WordPress and modern web technologies, including React and Gutenberg, while also focusing on areas such as web accessibility.
But some of the most valuable things I’ve learned haven’t come from writing code alone.
They’ve come from:
- Learning from other developers
- Contributing to open-source projects
- Sharing knowledge
- Asking questions
- Collaborating with the community
- Helping others get started
That’s one of the reasons I’m particularly excited about Campus Connect.
I want students to see that you don’t have to wait until you have years of experience before becoming part of an open-source community.
You can start by learning.
Then you can experiment.
Then you can contribute.
And eventually, you can help someone else take their first step.
From Contributor to Organizer
One thing I particularly appreciate about the WordPress community is that there are so many ways to participate.
- You can contribute code.
- You can contribute documentation.
- You can test features.
- You can organize events.
- You can speak.
- You can mentor.
- You can simply help someone who is trying to solve a problem.
There isn’t one definition of being a contributor.
For me, becoming part of the WordPress Campus Connect organizing team feels like a natural extension of that philosophy.
I’ve benefited from the knowledge and openness of the community, and I’m excited to have an opportunity to give something back.
Helping Build the Next Generation of Contributors
The part I’m most excited about is the possibility of helping students discover opportunities they may not have considered before.
Someone attending Campus Connect might discover WordPress for the first time.
Someone else might build their first website.
Another student might become interested in React or Gutenberg.
Someone might make their first open-source contribution.
And someone else might simply discover that there is a global community of people willing to help them learn.
Those first experiences can matter a lot.
That’s what makes community-driven events like this valuable.
Looking Forward to 19 September
I’m really looking forward to working with the organizing team and helping create a meaningful experience for students at Adani University, Ahmedabad.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, 19 September 2026, and is designed as a free, accessible learning experience for participating students.
I’m excited to contribute not just as a WordPress developer, but as someone who believes strongly in learning in public, giving back to the community, and helping others get started.
Hopefully, Campus Connect will be the beginning of something bigger for many of the students who attend.
Maybe we’ll see some of them become WordPress contributors.
Maybe they’ll build something of their own.
Maybe they’ll return to a future WordPress event as speakers, mentors, organizers, or contributors.
And if that happens, we’ll know that the community is growing.
